Point On Wave Applications Conference

POWA

The first Point On Wave Applications (POWA) Conference will be held on October 7th and 8th 2025 at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga Wolford Family Athletic Center in Chattanooga, TN. We invite anyone interested in application of Point on Wave data to join Academia, Vendors and Industry in presenting applications and use cases of Point on Wave data.

Keynote Panel: Perspectives On the Importance of POWA for the Utility Industry

As the electric utility Industry evolves at an unprecedented pace, Point on Wave Data Applications (POWA) stands at the forefront of innovation, driving transformation in how utilities manage data, and operational challenges. This keynote panel brings together visionary leaders from Vendors, Academia and Utilities to explore the critical role POWA plays in modernizing utility infrastructure, enhancing resilience, and enabling smarter decision-making.

  • Bruce Walker, former Assistant Secretary for the Office of Electricity at the U.S. Department of Energy, will offer policy and leadership insights on the national imperative for utility modernization.
  • Bill Howe , Sr Program Manager of Power Qality at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), will discuss the challenges and opportunities of operationalizing point-on-wave data at utility scale, with a focus on Power Quality related applications.
  • Dr. Hamed Mohsenian-Rad, Professor of Electrical Engineering at UC Riverside and a leading researcher in smart grid communications and signal processing, will provide insights into ongoing academic research using point on wave data and highlight industry wide collaborations between academia and utilities on the topic.
